State by State Energy Codes
Energy codes are building codes designed to ensure that buildings meet a certain level of energy efficiency. Many commercial buildings and most government buildings in the U.S. must comply with an established energy code. Residential requirements vary by state, county, city and local jurisdiction.
Decisions on enactment and enforcement of energy codes are typically left to individual states.
